Compositional Frameworks for Control Systems

Optimal control solves the problem of determining inputs to a system over time that results in a desired state while satisfying operational constraints. This problem is hard in general, but much more tractable when there is exploitable structure in the optimization objective or the systems being controlled. This project focuses on applying category theory to formalize these exploitable structures both within the systems being controlled and within the optimal control specifications themselves.
